Join us in 2004

Dear Colleague,

We cordially invite you to attend and participate in the "6th World Congress on Trauma, Shock, Inflammation and Sepsis – Pathophysiology, Immune Consequences and Therapy" to be held in Munich, Germany on March 2nd-6th, 2004.

The wide array of conference topics will include all major aspects of cell biology, clinical pathophysiology, monitoring, intensive care and therapy- basic studies and results of innovative clinical care will be discussed. For this master class conference we will be gathering together basic scientists, clinicians and intensivists from around the world and provide a great forum for presentation and discussion of the latest advances in science-molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, genetics, high technology and other areas as outlined and depicted within the wide spectrum of topics. This congress will, as our previous conferences, set the stage for what canbe accomplished during the next years to come.

The major theme of the congress is: "Trauma, inflammation and organ dysfunction in the era of the genome". The human and mouse genome sequencing projects near completion. The technology necessary to harness the power of genome-wide molecular profiling is rapidly evolving and soon will be available to all who study critical illness in injury. However, new opportunities create new challenges, and the difficulty of mining these huge data sets, in particular, is daunting. The 2004 congress provides the ideal venue to learn about the promise of functional genomics, the limitations of rapidly evolving technology, and the application of complex systems strategies to evaluate integrated genome-wide data sets.

We welcome the submission of abstracts with innovative research work to the program as oral- or poster presentations. This will be a wonderful opportunity especially for the younger scientists from all clinical and basic disciplines to contribute to and to learn of the cutting edge of science related to human biology.

Close to 90 program segments, equally distributed between basic cell biology topics and a wide array of more clinically oriented subjects have been chosen by the scientific committee to be covered in plenary lectures, mini symposia, free communication sessions, poster discussions and "hands on"-workshops. From this will come progress and better care of patients.

As in our previous conferences we will again provide a superb social activities program for the delegates and their accompanying friends during all days of the congress: We invite you to the Lord Major´s reception at the old town hall of Munich, to a roaring music party, furtheron, we have planned a sports night with racket sports, fitness contest, relaxation and Italian delicacies, while finally on the last congress night a gala dinner with great entertainment and several famous bands and orchestras will be hosted.

We again kindly invite you to sense the throbbing pulse and the attractivity of Munich, the Bavarian Capital, a vital, active, open and cosmopolitan meeting place, a city representative of the United Nations of Europe with a unique and wide spectrum of cultural wealth as well as warm hearted hospitality.

We look forward to your participation, we promise an unforgettable congress.
